Daniel Jones and his New York Giants flew across the pond for a matchup against the Carolina Panthers in Munich, Germany. Despite the change in scenery and time zone, it didn't help Jones and his performance on Sunday morning.
At halftime, the New York Giants were down 10-0 to the Carolina Panthers. There were a few blunders during the game where Jones didn't perform at his best. With about seven minutes remaining in the second quarter, he had several receivers wide open on a flea flicker, but instead of throwing a pass, he was sacked.
Fans on social media were not pleased with Jones' performance as they felt there were plenty of missed opportunities. Some criticized the New York Giants for their decision to retain and sign him and allow running back Saquon Barkley to leave in free agency.

Some said that Giants coach Brian Daboll shouldn't be held accountable for Jones' issues. Others added that six seasons has been plenty of time to see what the quarterback was capable of and he hasn't proven that he should be the starting QB.
"Unacceptable," one fan said
“But it took us six years to try and determine if Daniel Jones could be THE GUY… Who knows, maybe they can get a better sense of it in year seven," another fan said.
"He so s*****. Dabool shouldn’t lose his job cause Danny Dimes SUCKS," a fan wrote.
Many fans on social media didn't have much hope left for Jones to improve. One said the New York Giants should have selected a QB in the 2024 NFL draft. Daniel Jones was signed to a four-year $160 million in March 2023. Injuries cut his 2023 season to just six games where he had a 1-5 record.
"Bro is awful at QB. They have to go get a QB in the draft," a fan said.
"We don't deserve this," one fan wrote.
"He’s broken," a fan commented.
Can the New York Giants opt-out of Daniel Jones' contract?
The New York Giants are likely having buyer's remorse as their decision to sign Daniel Jones to a long-term contract over Saquon Barkley hasn't panned out. Barkley signed with the Philadelphia Eagles this past offseason and has become a highlight of their offense. Jones' struggles continue, which has many fans calling for the Giants to part ways with him.
If the New York Giants are willing to take a $22 million hit and deal with dead salary cap space in 2025, they can release Daniel Jones after the 2024 season and not owe him any more money. The Giants will just have to hope that he finishes the season healthy. If he doesn't, they will owe him $23 million in injury guarantees.
