An image went viral on Sunday afternoon before kickoff between the Indianapolis Colts and the Philadelphia Eagles. Singer and songwriter John Mellencamp was seen sitting in a suite at Lucas Oil Stadium. The problem with that was it was during the national anthem. In the photo, Mellencamp was seen sitting and eating popcorn while everyone else around him was standing.

The 71-year-old singer may have been making a statement with his decision to sit during the national anthem. He was vocal in his support for former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick when he decided to take a knee to bring awareness to social injustice. Mellencamp himself has taken a knee on stage in the past to show his support for equality as well.

Whether him sitting during the national anthem was just another instance of him taking a stand for the cause is unknown. Mellencamp hasn't commented on the incident. But those on Twitter weren't happy that Mellencamp decided to sit during the national anthem:

Colts fail to hang on to lead and fall to 17-16 defeat against the Eagles

The Indianapolis Colts are under new leadership with interim head coach Jeff Saturday. Last week, Saturday earned his first win and almost followed it up with another as the Colts came close to defeating the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

The Eagles were coming off their first loss of the season, which they suffered against the Washington Commanders. The Eagles seemed to be reeling from that loss and were unable to get anything going for much of the game.

However, with just 1:24 minutes remaining on the clock, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts rushed into the end zone for a touchdown. This gave his team the lead for the first time all day.

Indianapolis displayed a lot of promise, especially for a 4-6-1 team with a new head coach and offensive play caller. Their defense was able to hold the Eagles for about 55 minutes until it all began to unravel.

The 9-1 Eagles, on the other hand, still have some issues they need to work out. They will host the Green Bay Packers next Sunday at home. As for the Colts, they will face the 3-7 Pittsburgh Steelers next Monday.
