Jerod Mayo fired after one season? The 2024 season of the New England Patriots has been tough for the fans. After Bill Belichick left the team, huge changes were expected to follow. Instead, the roster stayed largely the same, and Robert Kraft hired one of Belichick's assistants, Jerod Mayo, to become the head coach.
The result has been an underwhelming year, with a 3-9 record and not much to be hopeful for, except the development of rookie quarterback Drake Maye. The Patriots look unprepared, and the head coach's job has already been questioned several times by fans and analysts.
If the Patriots indeed decide to go a different route, one name in particular stands out. Like Mayo, Mike Vrabel is also a former Patriot from the Belichick days, but he also has a proven record as a head coach in the NFL following his retirement. Patriots fans want to see Vrabel taking over:

"Vrabel likely has a ceiling but he's hold everyone more accountable and wouldn't over share with the media like Mayo does week in and week out," noted one fan.
"Can you imagine Vrabs on the sideline!? The intensity and discipline and the staff he’d bring in," vented another.
"Agreed. Go get Vrabel now," was the most common response.
Vrabel is currently working as an advisor for the Cleveland Browns. During his playing days, he was with the Patriots from 2001 to 2008, winning three Super Bowls with the franchise.
If they fired Jerod Mayo, why should the Patriots hire Mike Vrabel?
When he was their coach, on several occasions, the Titans played as a gritty team and at a level greater than the sum of their individual capabilities.
Vrabel came very close to leading the team to a Super Bowl, especially when they had a 10-point lead during the conference championship against the Kansas City Chiefs. They lost because nothing was going to take away Patrick Mahomes' title in 2019, however, it was not a wasted opportunity: the team went to its absolute limit and succumbed to an even more talented opponent.
He has a 54-45 record as a head coach following his six seasons with the Titans, with a 2-3 record in the playoffs.
