Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills' quest to finish as the top seed in the AFC is alive at least until Christmas as they beat the New England Patriots 24-21 in Week 16 and improved to 12-3. While his team got the job done, the quarterback's quest to win the MVP award took a substantial blow.
Allen completed only 16 of his 29 pass attempts for 154 yards and one touchdown and rushed six times for 30 yards. He also threw an ugly interception on a 3rd-and-16 play, as he tried to force a deep pass into double coverage but came nowhere close to finding a receiver downfield.
It was an uncharacteristically poor performance from the quarterback, but CBS, the game's broadcasters, seemingly tried to mask it. In the final seconds of the game, the network showcased a graphic of the game's top performer, which included Allen, but not his interception. They did not extend the same courtesy to the Patriots' Drake Maye.

The network's official handle on X also tried to sugarcoat the quarterback's interception with a caption that read:
"Josh Allen pins the Patriots inside the 1 [yard line] with an arm punt."
Fans were incensed by CBS' alleged attempt to downplay Allen's poor performance and voiced their frustration:
"Embarrassing levels of propaganda"
Some fans claimed CBS had a vested interest in helping Allen win the MVP award over Lamar Jackson:
"Insane levels of Allen propaganda here. Shame on you CBS. Shame on you." - Wrote @nelsondorseyiii
"CBS is pure propaganda protecting Allen like that, they want this dude to win the MVP so bad and he doesn’t have the stats to back it up." - Claimed @Based_In410
"Like really? WTF is wrong with CBS, they want Allen to win MVP so badly they created the “Arm Punt” to cover for Allen’s INT." - Remarked @SensArmChairGM
NFL MVP race: RGIII predicts Ravens' Christmas game to decide Josh Allen's fate
By all metrics, the race is down to two candidates: Josh Allen and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. The reigning MVP put on a show on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He completed 15 of his 23 pass attempts for 207 yards and three touchdowns with one interception, and rushed for 22 yards on nine carries in a 34-17 victory. The Ravens are scheduled to be in action on Christmas Day against the Houston Texans and Robert Griffin III believes Jackson could gift himself the MVP award with a stellar display:
"The NFL MVP Race will be decided on Netflix on Christmas Day. Lamar Jackson is the front runner and how he plays will determine if he wins it." - RGIII on X
Allen and the Bills will be in action next Sunday against the New York Jets. There's a possibility that if Jackson delivers a stellar performance against the Texans and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Steelers to secure the top seed in the AFC playoff seeding, Buffalo will consider resting its quarterback if it builds a substantial lead to ensure he's healthy for its playoff run.
