The 10-1 Kansas City Chiefs were expected to register a blowout win over the 2-9 Las Vegas Raiders in their Black Friday game at Arrowhead Stadium. However, the underdogs put up a stellar fight and even took the lead on the first play of the fourth quarter.
On a 1st-and-10, Chiefs safety Justin Reid opted to stay in zone coverage against Raiders wide receiver Tre Tucker. But the decision proved to be a costly error, as the Las Vegas star raced past the veteran and left him on the floor. Safety Bryan Cook read the play too late as he helplessly watched Tucker stroll into the endzone and help the Raiders take the lead.
Fans on social media were extremely unimpressed by the Chiefs' performance on defense and called them out:

Kansas City's defense has been exceptional this season, but some fans claimed that their performances have been on a downward trajectory over the past few games:
"Chiefs defense has been looking leaky for the last 6 games. Getting pushed off the ball and the running back get to the second level with linebackers only arm is weird to see under Spags defense" - Said @Olsen_Don
"The Chiefs defense has been pretty sh**ty the last few weeks. They were the best in the NFL." - Opined @MikeFLotGSports
"Chiefs defense has completely carried all year and they’re just getting worse and worse every week. They’ve been way too overtaxed we love it" - Believes @JOELEMBllDFAN
Chiefs' defense comes through in the clutch
After Tucker's touchdown, the Chiefs managed to retake the lead courtesy of kicker Matthew Wright's 32-yard field goal. Neither team could add any points to their total in the next four drives as the clock hit the two-minute warning with Kansas City still leading by two points.
However, in the game's penultimate drive, Raiders quarterback Aidan O'Connell completed five straight passes for 55 yards and got Las Vegas in field goal range with 15 seconds left on the clock. The visitors were seemingly planning on running one more play before attempting the game-winning field goal, but their center inexplicably snapped the ball before the rest of the offense could get set.
The ball bounced off O'Connell and hit the floor, giving linebacker Nick Bolton the opportunity to pounce on it and secure it to win the game for the Chiefs. It wasn't a pretty win, like most of Kansas City's victories this season, but the defense got the job done when it mattered most and secured their team's berth in the playoffs.
