NFL fans call for Isaiah Buggs' job over reports of DT allegedly injuring mother of his child

Isaiah Buggs is garnering the wrath of fans after reports emerged surrounding his latest arrest. As per Tuscaloosa court records, the Chiefs defensive tackle is facing second-degree charges related to burglary and domestic violence. He was booked and arrested on Sunday.

Now, it has been reported that he reportedly dragged the mother of his child down the stairs. In the process he injured her, having allegedly broken into her house at 5 A.M. in the morning with a tire iron. This is his second arrest during this offseason, with the earlier one pertaining to mistreatment of a couple of dogs.

Fans were less than thrilled and expressed their disgust on X, formerly known as Twitter. Most of them were along the lines that requested the Chiefs to cut him now and move on or for him to be put in for a long time. Here are some of the reactions.

The responses were almost uniformly negative considering the seriousness of the allegations. Here are some other posts from the social media platform.

"He needs prison"
"Cut this dude already!!!!"
"Get this guy out the league"

Isaiah Buggs has more to lose if the Chiefs cut him

The Chiefs are having a bad time this offseason with certain players. There was the case of Rashee Rice being irresponsibly involved in a street race that led to an accident. And now, Isaiah Buggs has brought scrutiny to the franchise again this offseason after his latest arrest.

But unlike the wide receiver, who was a key player in their Super Bowl run even if inconsistent, the defensive tackle should be on a much shorter leash. He was picked by the Steelers in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft and has since bounced around quite a few teams.

He was there in Pittsburgh until 2021, before joining the Las Vegas Raiders' practice squad the same year. He tried to resurrect his career with the Detroit Lions from 2022 to 2023 but ended up with the Kansas City Chiefs last season on the practice squad.

In that capacity, he has collected a Super Bowl ring and can call himself a world champion. But if the allegations are proven, the franchise might have no choice but to cut him, if they wait that long. And then Isaiah Buggs will have to search for his fifth team since entering the league and that might not prove as easy.

Add in the fact that his investments are not doing too well and his hookah lounge is reportedly being closed and it looks like an opportunity squandered by the defensive tackle, if the latest reports are true.

The Kansas City Chiefs are building a dynasty and they need the best players to be available. Right now, it is not clear if Isaiah Buggs falls in that category. And his off-field problems might tilt the balance in favor of him getting cut irrespective of what he might try on the field.
