Patrick Mahomes is undoubtedly the most successful quarterback in the NFL today in terms of career achievements. But to some less ruly fans, he is also the most successful quarterback in terms of negatively received calls/no calls.

That notion was very visible in Sunday's Super Bowl LVIII rematch between his Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. At one point, he recoiled after defensive tackle Maliek Collins touched his throat:

The fans' complaints did not take long to emerge afterward:

More of the mockery can be seen below:

"And of course he looks right to the ref for help," one jeered.
"How was that not a flag?" another demanded.
"Should have hit him harder," another rued.

Tom Brady discusses Patrick Mahomes' middling stats despite 5-0 start to 2024 season

On the surface, the Chiefs' 5-0 start to the 2024 season looks dominant. But when examined closer, Patrick Mahomes is not exactly playing his best football so far.

There have been critics of such a performance, but Tom Brady is not among them. He shared the parallels between them on Fox's pregame show:

"They’ve lost some of their weapons; and because of that, he’s turned into a guy who is there to perform when it matters the most ... That’s ultimately how I evolved as a player. It became less about, 'Am I in the MVP race? Am I going to be a Pro Bowler, an All-Pro?' (and more about) 'Am I good enough for my team to win today?'
"And that’s rarefied air because that gives you a chance to improve every single week, every single year. That’s the constant motivation ... He’s so dependable, so consistent."

He concluded with:

“From the same way that I met you the first time (to) today, I just wanted to say I’m proud of you. Keep doing your thing the right way.”

Patrick Mahomes responded:

“It’s honestly an honor ... I think more than even the Super Bowls, it was the consistency you showed every single year, every single day. You came to work, and you came to win. For me, it gives me something to chase. It’s going to be hard to get there, but I’ll do my best trying to get there.”

The Chiefs beat the 49ers 28-18 on Sunday at Levi's Stadium.
