NFL fans divided over Bill Belichick's reported failed attempt at landing Falcons job: "Game passed him by", "Poor taste by Robert Kraft"

Coach Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots agreed to mutually part ways after the 2023-2024 season.

After a 4-13 record, the Pats wanted to head in a new direction, and Belichick still had aspirations to continue coaching. There was some interest in the coach from the Atlanta Falcons, but like many other teams, they passed on the opportunity to hire Belichick and elected to appoint Raheem Morris instead.

An explosive ESPN report on Wednesday quoted insider sources saying that Patriots owner Robert Kraft shared his concerns about Belichick with Falcons owner Arthur Blank. In the report, Kraft said that Belichick was stubborn, arrogant and not trustworthy.

With the news making the rounds on social media, fans were left divided about how they felt about the situation.

Some think that Belichick's time is up and that there aren't teams interested in his philosophy.

"Hes 72 and a franchise doesn’t want a guy close to death," one fan said.
"Belichick is 72 years old, he went 4-13 last year and his idea of an innovative way to build around Mac Jones was to put him in an offense run by Matt Patricia. I think that's why Belichick doesn't have a job," said another fan.
"He's shut out because he's a 72-y.o. coach with an 82-98 record without Tom Brady, who has been to the playoffs twice in 10 years without Tom, with no division titles and one win in those playoff games. And he's famously strict (even if it hurts the team) and drafts poorly," said one fan.

While some think Belichick's time is past him, others think the report was just out of pocket by Kraft.

Here's how other fans reacted:

"I hate that we live in a country where this kind of crap goes on. He won 6 super bowls for you and you employed him for almost 25 years but he is so terrible? And then yall deny him employment? America can be a very dirty place," one fan wrote.
"Of course he spoke badly of him.. Can't have the ol' coach go and get the record with a Falcons hoodie on while making a deep playoff run with that roster..," another fan wrote.
"To do that to the head coach who contributed to bringing you vast fortunes & presumably some of the happiest moments of your life speak more on how Robert Kraft is the one who should not be trusted. #Patriots," another fan wrote.
