NFL fans divided over Caleb Williams' running TD against Bengals: "Practice squad defense btw" "Rookie of the year"

Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears quarterback and the number one overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, played in his second preseason game today. Williams started in Saturday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and made an impressive play.

Right before the first half ended, Williams scrambled for seven yards that resulted in a touchdown.

As the first overall pick, Williams will be watched and analyzed by many.

Upon seeing his highlight reel touchdown run, some fans weren't impressed, as they pointed out that Williams made the play against Cincinnati's backups, since the starters were rested. Others noted that he completed less than 50% of his passes against backups.

Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams didn't play in the Hall of Fame Game when the Bears faced the Houston Texans.

Williams made his debut the following week when the Bears traveled to Buffalo to take on the Bills. In his first NFL game, Williams completed 4 of 7 passes for 95 yards, and also added 13 yards on the ground.

Today, Williams finished the day by completing 6 of 13 passes for 75 yards, and a seven-yard touchdown run. He had a passer rating of 64.8.

In his two pre-season games, Williams has completed 10 of 20 passes for 170 yards. He also has 20 rushing yards on two carries.

The Bears close out the preseason next week against the Kansas City Chiefs before the first game of the regular season. It is currently unclear whether or not Caleb Williams will play in the Bears preseason finale.
