The Carolina Panthers have finally won a game in 2024, as they defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 36-22 on Sunday thanks in large part to Andy Dalton. The veteran played a huge role in his first start since being elevated as the starting quarterback in place of sophomore Bryce Young.
He finished with a monstrous 319 yards and three touchdowns (all in the first half) from 26 of 37 passes completed, while also helping set up a rushing touchdown by Miles Sanders and three field goals by kicker Eddy Pineiro:
Praise was aplenty for the former Cincinnati Bengal, as was criticism towards the first overall pick of the 2023 Draft:

"Bryce Young was the problem"
"He may have won the starting job for the rest of the season!" one fan exclaimed.
"The media needs to apologize, cause us true @Panthers fans knew we had playmakers and a good OLINE, we just didn't have an NFL caliber QB," one fan said, referring to Dalton as the said "NFL caliber QB."
More of the sentiment can be seen below:
"Andy Dalton learned so much from sitting and watching Bryce Young," one joked.
"Wow they look like a brand new team lmao," another noted.
"Bryce Young to Miami confirmed," yet another's "trade projection" read.
Key contributors as Panthers defeat Raiders in first 2024 game with Andy Dalton
Andy Dalton was a big part of the Panthers' first win, but he did have two offensive weapons with over 100 yards to help him.
Running back Chuba Hubbard had 114 yards on 21 rushes and 55 yards and a touchdown on five receptions, while wideout Diontae Johnson finished with 122 yards and a touchdown on eight receptions. Dalton also found Adam Thielen for his other touchdown.
On defense, three players had a sack each: Jadeveon Clowney, Jayden Peevy, and Labryan Ray.
Andy Dalton completely outdueled his Raiders counterpart, Gardner Minshew, who completed 18 of 28 attempts for 214 yards and a touchdown to Jakobi Meyers. However, he was also intercepted once by Mike Jackson (who was also the Panthers' leading tackler with nine solos).
Davante Adams had a paltry 40 yards from four catches, while rookie tight end Brock Bowers was only marginally better with only 41 from three. The ground game, meanwhile, was nonexistent, with Alexander Mattison having only 34 yards from ten rushes.
