NFL fans hilariously react as Jake Bates' sideline video goes viral - "Did him so dirty" "Bro sacrificed his honor"

Jake Bates' viral sideline pose during Lions-49ers game

Jake Bates made a name for himself as the record-setting kicker for the Michigan Panthers, impressing enough that the Detroit Lions made him one of only two UFL players to make a 53-man NFL roster. But while he has been a dependable kicker, that may be overshadowed by what he did on Monday night.

During the game against the San Francisco 49ers, ESPN/ABC cameras caught him in an awkward pose on the sidelines:

Fans ridiculed him in the aftermath:

More of it can be seen below:

"Holy shit. This is epic!" one "praised".
"Bro took a whole (mushroom emoji) at half," another thought.
"Looks like he's making sweet love to the field...Moody should do it too if it'll result in successful field goals," another "recommended".

Bates finished with two field goals and half of his extra points (2/4) made as the Lions won 40-34.

Jake Bates makes Lions history against 49ers

“Historic” is a very good way to describe Jake Bates. Back in the UFL, he made history when he hit a 64-yarder against the St. Louis Battlehawks - the longest field goal in the history of either the UFC or its predecessors (the game ball would even be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, a testament to his burgeoning popularity).

Even more impressively, it was the first time he had attempted a field goal in his life, as he had been exclusively a kickoff specialist even in college. (He would hit two more 60-yarders in that season.)

And on Monday, he did it again. Shortly after his viral sideline pose became viral, Bates hit a 42-yarder, his second field goal of the night. And in the process, he made history again:setting the Lions record for most single-season points in franchise history, at 135 - one more than franchise legend Jason Hanson scored in his 2012 farewell campaign.

Other highlights of this record-breaking campaign include hitting walk-off game winners at the Houston Texans (in a game where Jared Goff threw five interceptions) and against the Green Bay Packers that secured a second series sweep against their divisional rivals in the current decade.
