Kirk Cousins returned to Minnesota for the first time since he left in free agency this past offseason and signed with the Atlanta Falcons. Cousins played six seasons with the Vikings and his return was highly anticipated.
However, some Vikings fans didn't show any love for their former quarterback. As Cousins led Falcons offense onto the field on Sunday, boos began raining down in U.S. Bank Stadium. The video of Cousins facing the wrath of his former fan base quickly circulated on X.
NFL fans weren't pleased with the negative reception that Cousins received. Some called Vikings fans "classless" while others asked why he would be booed in the first place.

Cousins signed with the Minnesota Vikings in 2018 and during his six seasons with the team, led them to the playoffs in 2019 and 2022. Last year, he played just eight games as he suffered an Achilles injury in Week 8.
Fans on social media believed that it made the franchise look bad that they would boo their former QB. Others suggested it may hype him up to do well to prove the fans wrong.
"Kirk gonna hurt feelings today," one fan said.
"What a sorry franchise. Booing your only good player ever," one fan wrote.
"I’m a Vikings fan, why they booing him lol. We love Kirk," another fan commented.
NFL fans in general weren't happy that Cousins was treated that way. Minnesota is in the playoff hunt, despite losing first round draft pick J.J. McCarthy during training camp.
"Booing him is bull****," one fan said.
"damn how you booing kirko," a fan wrote.
"The best QB the vikings have had in 20+ years, and they boo him. Lol This is why the vikings will continue to be a poverty franchise," another fan said.
Falcons QB Kirk Cousins gave his take on 'revenge' games
On Nov. 27, Kirk Cousins was a guest on the "Pardon My Take" podcast. As the Falcons try to string some victories down the stretch to win the NFC South, Cousins was asked about his mindset as two of his former teams are still left on the schedule.
“Revenge probably wouldn’t be the word as much as walking into their trap to play well and do my thing," Cousins said. "But it’s hard for me not to root for everybody there.”
Cousins isn't allowing his former teams to dictate how he plays and from getting in the way of him attempting to lead the Atlanta Falcons to a playoff run.
