On Christmas Day, Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens took a massive step toward successfully retaining the AFC North title for only the third time in franchise history after stomping the Houston Texans 31-2 at NRG Stadium.

They now lead the Pittsburgh Steelers by one game in the division standings and can seal their title win with a win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 18. The Cincinnati Bengals beating the Steelers would also be enough for them to win the AFC North.

Jackson had a terrific outing as a passer and a rusher. He completed 10 of his 15 pass attempts for 168 yards and two passing touchdowns and carried the ball four times for 87 yards and a rushing touchdown, which was the game's best highlight.

His 87th rushing yard in the game saw him surpass Michael Vick and become the new record holder for most rushing yards by a quarterback in NFL history.

Vick had 6,109 rushing yards in 143 games. Jackson is now one yard clear with 6,110. He needed only 102 games to overtake Vick.

Fans on social media heaped praise on the Ravens superstar for his dominant display and for breaking the record:

"Put him in the Hall of Fame," one fan said.
"BEST DUAL THREAT WE HAVE EVER SEEN," added another fan.
"Best dual threat qb of all time and he still has 10 years left," another fan added.

Several fans claimed his performance on Christmas Day sealed his third MVP award win:

"He isn’t even halfway through his career and he’s the greatest dual threat qb we’ve ever seen. Also give him MVP." - Claimed one fan.
"MV3, there should be no doubt!" - another fan added.
"Y'all was out here trying to give Josh Allen a DEI MVP award, when Lamar Jackson out here doing this is crazy." - one fan quipped.

Lamar Jackson MVP odds: QB cuts into Josh Allen's lead

Coming into Week 17, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen had a massive lead in the MVP award race on most betting sites, despite a horrendous performance against the New England Patriots, where he went 16-for-29 for 154 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

He has been the favorite to win the MVP award since the Bills' Week 11 win over the Chiefs, which remains the only blemish on the reigning Super Bowl champions' record this season. However, Lamar Jackson's incredible performance on Christmas Day has put the pressure on Allen to deliver on Sunday against the New York Jets.

If he delivers another dud performance, the tide could swing in the reigning MVP's favor heading into the final week of the regular season.
