Quarterback Bryce Young was benched just one day after the Carolina Panthers lost their second consecutive game to open the NFL season. Despite the struggles Young and the Panthers have had since last season, fans believed that the first-overall draft pick would continue to run the offense.
Now that the Panthers have decided to go with veteran quarterback Andy Dalton for the time being, rumors of Young being traded have run rampant. On Friday morning, ESPN's David Newton, who covers the Carolina Panthers, reported that Bryce Young would be open to a trade.
This update stirred up a lot of opinions on social media with some speculating which team would be interested. The New York Giants were a top contender as Daniel Jones' struggles continue.

Other NFL fans on X agreed with the idea of trading the quarterback to allow him an opportunity with a team that could be more successful. Another fan simply shared that they were confused about what the Carolina Panthers were doing.
The Panthers traded up for the first overall pick in 2023 and had their choice in quarterback. Bryce Young has had three head coaches in his short tenure and is once again learning a new offense. The decision to bench Young after just two games under head coach Dave Canales is perplexing.
"If I’m Bryce a trade is the only option get him TF away from Tepper and that organization for his career & mentals sake."-one fan said
"Morgan earns a HUGE "W" if he can pull off a trade getting rid of Bryce for a 2nd or 3rd. Send him to Miami. This will begin to fix Tepper's mistakes."-one person on X suggested
"I’m confused."-one fan who was taken aback about this news
The New York Jets were also another common destination amongst NFL fans. One fan believed that being Aaron Rodgers' backup could benefit the young quarterback.
"Free that man."-expressed one fan
"Dude looks like he belongs on JV team not nfl."-said another
"Come to Jets and learn from the master."-one fan pleaded
Dave Canales said Panthers have no desire to trade Bryce Young
Quarterback Bryce Young may reportedly be open to a trade out of Carolina, but the organization apparently feels otherwise. First-year head coach Dave Canales said earlier this week that the team doesn't plan on trading the former first-round draft pick.
“That’s not something we are really considering. We have a great situation with our quarterbacks right now with guys that have experience. We love where we are at and it’s all hands on deck." said Canales
It's also worth noting that on Sunday, Canales told reporters in his postgame press conference that Bryce Young wouldn't be benched. Just about 48 hours later the Carolina Panthers announced that he had been benched.
