Deebo Samuel is seemingly in a statistical and competitive decline. He has fallen sharply from his 1,000-yard self in 2023 (rushing and receiving combined), and a play on Thursday night served as a microcosm of his decline.
During the divisional rivalry game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams, Isaac Guerendo took a handoff from Brock Purdy. Unfortunately for him, the one-time Pro Bowl wide receiver ran into his lane, causing a collision:
There was much mockery afterward:

More of it can be seen below:
"Do Niners fans want him traded? Curious," one 'inquired'.
"Dudes gotten so slow," another 'lamented'.
"Guerendo should smash deebo’s back head," another 'demanded'.
The 49ers eventually scored a field goal on that drive.
Ravens, Chargers mentioned as potential trade destinations for Deebo Samuel
While speculation has leaned towards Deebo Samuel being released in a salary cap move, another possibility is trading him. David Latham, writing for Last Word on Sports, has identified two AFC contenders.
First is John Harbaugh's Baltimore Ravens. They already have a monstrous core led by the rushing duo of quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry and receiving threats Zay Flowers, Mark Andrews, and Isaiah Likely; however, midseason trade acquisition Diontae Johnson has failed to impress and is expected to be on his way out.
Latham posits that Samuel's unique skillset (dangerous both in the air and on the ground) would be a perfect fit for the Ravens' offense:
"As one of the best players in the league after the catch, Samuel excels at making multiple defenders miss in space. As it is, the presence of Jackson and Henry makes it impossible for defenses to consistently drop defenders into coverage, so Samuel should have more room to work with. Additionally, he’d be a fantastic lightning to Derrick Henry’s thunder."
The other is the Los Angeles Chargers led by Harbaugh's younger brother Jim. Quentin Johnston has been a bit disappointing as their main receiving option, while Ladd McConkey looks like the real deal but needs a more experienced partner in the backfield who could also contribute to the team's run-first system.
