NFL fans react to Harrison Butker's response to Serena Williams' dig at 2024 ESPYs: "Take your own advice, kicker"

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker fired back at Serena Williams after the tennis icon took a shot at him during the 2024 ESPYs.

Though labeling Williams a "great host," Butker accused her of "disinviting those who "she disagreed with."

“I thought Mrs. Williams was a great host and applaud her for using her platform to express her beliefs on a variety of topics,” Butker said (as per NBC News). “Sports are supposed to be the great unifier and at an event dedicated to celebrating a diverse group of men and women who have accomplished great feats, she used it as an opportunity to disinvite those with whom she disagrees with from supporting fellow athletes.”

Many fans were unimpressed with his response and urged him to take his own advice.

"Now replace the ESPYs with a gradation and take your own advice, kicker."

Most fans agreed with Serena, pointing out that a graduation should also be unifying.

Butker's commencement speech at Benedictine College has been slammed for being backward and sexist, with the Kansas City Chiefs kicker asking women to focus on motherhood and being wives instead of following their chosen career paths.
