The Detroit Lions signed Jamal Adams on Sunday afternoon, adding a key veteran to their defense. ESPN's NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported the news just before the first game of Sunday's slate.
The Lions's defense needs some assistance as shown in the Thanksgiving matchup against the Chicago Bears. Schefter also shared in his post on X (formerly Twitter) that Adams is expected to be elevated to the active roster sooner rather than later.
The 29-year-old safety has been looking for an opportunity to join a playoff contender and has found one with the Detroit Lions. Jamal Adams signed with the Lions shortly after Kwon Alexander signed with the team.
"Former Pro-Bowl safety Jamal Adams is signing with the Lions practice squad with the idea that he’ll be elevated to Detroit’s roster, per source. Adams had been eyeing an opportunity with a playoff contender. Adams’ agent, Kevin Conner of @UniSportsMgmt, confirmed the agreement," Adam Schefter wrote.

Did Jamal Adams play in 2024 before signing with the Lions?
Former All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler Jamal Adams will officially join the Detroit Lions and try to achieve his Super Bowl dreams. Adams had been a free agent since October 2024, when he requested his release from the Tennessee Titans after just three months with the team. He played three games this season with the Titans and had four combined tackles and two solo tackles in those games.
Before his solitary stint at Tennessee, Adams spent three seasons with the New York Jets (2017-2019) and four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks (2020-2023) before being released by the Seahawks in March 2024. In his eight seasons in the NFL, the safety has tallied 498 combined tackles, 21.5 sacks, 36 passes deflected, four interceptions, and seven forced fumbles.
