NFL fans react to Jim Irsay comparing Colts HC Shane Steichen to Don Shula - "He needs adult supervision"

Jim Irsay flatters Shane Steichen

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay made a comparison between head coach Shane Steichen and a certain Hall of Famer during Saturday's preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals.

“It’s remarkable and I don’t know why, I’m not trying to put too much pressure on him, but Don Shula’s name kind of rings a bell with him a little bit. I can’t tell you how excellent I believe he’s going to be in this league....I really think that we really hit the jackpot with him. He’s just an outstanding football mind who demands excellence...”

"Jim Irsay is someone who needs adult supervision," one fan wrote.
"back on drugs is he?" one fan said.

More of it can be seen below:

"Poor guy is still lost in the sauce," one lamented.
"That was hard to listen to," one cringed.
"He should be required to pass a drug test before he is allowed on the air during any game," another demanded.

In that same interview, Irsay also called Chris Ballard, who is 54-60-1 with a single playoff win entering his eighth season, "a blue-chip general manager."

Jim Irsay also praises Colts rookie linebacker Laiatu Latu

Speaking of Chris Ballard, Jim Irsay likes his latest first-round hire: Laiatu Latu. The defensive end, who was taken 15th overall out of UCLA, is projected to be a starter on a trench that also includes a pair of strongly-performing veteran tackles in Grover Stewart and multiple-time Pro Bowler DeForest Buckner.

The owner said:

“I’ve got to know him well and it’s just so exciting to see a guy like that who I believe plays the run, plays the pass equally strong and is just a playmaker. I can see a guy like this eventually having (a) 15-sack season. I really can. And what a great young man he is too, which is so exciting his enthusiasm and everything.”

Latu did not play Saturday's game, which the Colts won 21-13, thanks to rushing touchdowns by Zavier Scott, Tyler Goodson, and quarterback Jason Bean, the last of whom more than made up for being intercepted by Dadrion Taylor. Defensively, Isaiah Land, Dayo Odeyingbo, and Adetomiwa Adeboware had a sack each.

The Cardinals' only touchdown was a 12-yard run from quarterback Clayton Tune.
