NFL fans react as Nick Bosa shows off "MAGA" hat and support for Donald Trump after 49ers win - "Fine incoming"

Nick Bosa crashed the post-match after the 49ers won against the Cowboys wearing a "MAGA" hat associated with former president Donald Trump's political movement. After the Sunday Night Football game finished, winning quarterback Brock Purdy was being interviewed on television when the star defender jumped in from behind and pointed to the baseball hat he was wearing emblazoned with the words.

Fans immediately began reacting to the incident as they thought this was a direct political message, which is not common for NFL players to make explicitly. Footballers have been encouraged to ask people to vote in the upcoming Presidential election, in which Donald Trump is one of the leading candidates along with vice-president Kamala Harris, but it has not gone beyond trying to boost turnout.

Nick Bosa addresses MAGA hat in post-game 49ers conference

Nick Bosa wearing the hat created quite a stir and he was asked about it in the post-game press conference. He declined to go into too much detail but said,

"I'm not going to talk too much about it but I think it's an important time."

Donald Trump has previously name-checked Nick Bosa after the player was revealed to have supported the former president during his college years. The 45th president had said at that time,

“Congratulations to Nick Bosa on being picked number two in the NFL Draft. You will be a great player for years to come, maybe one of the best. Big Talent! San Francisco will embrace you, but most importantly, always stay true to yourself. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

The defender previously also said that moving to San Francisco after being drafted was going to help him grow as a person,

"I think me being here (San Francisco) is even better for me as a person, because I don't think there's anywhere, any city, that you could really be in that would help you grow as much as this one will. I'm going to be surrounded with people of all different kinds, so I'm going to grow as a person. I'm going to be on my own. I'm going to grow up, I'm gonna learn a lot of new things. It's exciting."

However, on the issue of political persuasions, it looks like he stands against what most people in the State of California support, which generally votes reliably for the Democratic Party in elections.
