The 2024 season will represent a new beginning for Justin Fields. The former Chicago Bears quarterback moved to the Pittsburgh Steelers in a trade, with the Bears earning a golden opportunity to get themselves a new franchise quarterback in Caleb Williams.

Fields' time in Chicago was a mix of good and bad moments, but ultimately that's what led to his demise. To be a starter quarterback in the NFL, you need to develop your consistency, and Fields was never able to do so. Moving to Pittsburgh represented a fresh start for all sides.

On Sunday, images of the quarterback's new physique emerged on the internet, as he showed off some impressive muscles in the gym while in preparation for the upcoming season. NFL fans couldn't help to troll him, however, citing some of the new usages he might have in Pittsburgh:

Meanwhile, a couple of fans wondered whether Fields had the time to work on his passing skills.

"Instead of working in bodybuilding, dude should have been working on learning how to throw an NFL pass", wrote a fan.
"All to still miss 5 yard wide open TDs", another said.
"Good for him, that kick return game is gonna be great.", another trolled.

Justin Fields is set to start the season as QB2 for the Steelers. The team also signed Russell Wilson as their starter after the veteran was released by the Denver Broncos early during the offseason.

Is there any truth to the rumors about Justin Fields becoming a kick returner?

It was more of an expression than an actual possibility. With new kickoff rules arriving in the 2024 season and with Fields being one of the most elusive players in the league with the ball in his hands, an idea about him becoming a kick returner for the Steelers floated around during the rookie minicamps.

But Justin Fields himself dismissed the idea, stating to the Post-Gazette that it was more of an example of being selfless and earning the job:

"Nah, I think everybody kind of interpreted it wrong. "Coach Danny was basically just trying to send a message that no matter who you are, you could be on special teams. He just used that as an example."

Fields was a first-round pick with the Chicago Bears in 2021, but the Pittsburgh Steelers had to send a sixth-round pick only to acquire his services.
