NFL fans on social media weren't excited, as Swift's attendance at games will probably make headlines again this season. Some fans questioned the reasoning behind making this a story on the opening night of the 2024 NFL season.

One fan on X said they were ready to make a bet on how much she would be shown during the NBC broadcast on Thursday night. Typically anytime Travis Kelce makes a catch or scores a touchdown.

There were also several sarcastic comments about the NFL coverage being obsessed with showing Taylor Swift at games each week.

This update on Taylor Swift's attendance at Thursday night's game comes just two days after the NFL's 2024 season hype video. In the 30-second promo, Swift was shown five times, which had some fans outraged.

Chiefs CEO credited Taylor Swift for increase in fan base

Taylor Swift's loyal fan base, best known as "Swifties," quickly jumped on the Kansas City Chiefs bandwagon last season. Travis Kelce's jersey sales increased, and fans attended "The Eras" tours wearing Kansas City Chiefs merchandise.

This offseason, Kansas City Chiefs CEO and chairman, Clark Hunt, credited Taylor Swift for the reported 30% increase in the team's fan base.

“The impact Taylor Swift has had on our fan base is undeniable. We’ve seen a 30% increase in our fan base, and it’s clear that her presence and influence are a big part of that. Her fans are incredibly loyal, and they’ve brought that energy to supporting the Chiefs," Hunt said via Bloomberg.

The Kansas City Chiefs also saw an increase in social media followers after Swift's first appearance in September 2023. Whether it will continue this season remains to be seen.
