NFL fans react as Tee Higgins' mother consoles Bengals star after Damar Hamlin's cardiac arrest

During Week 17's Monday Night Football matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals, Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered a devastating injury. This happened while he tackled Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins.

The safety got hit in the chest as he was tackling Higgins down to the ground and collapsed as he stood up right after the tackle.

Hamlin was left unconscious on the field and CPR was performed on the him. He was then sent to the UC Medical Center for further testing where he is currently in critical condition.

Following the conclusion of the game, Higgins was spotted walking out of the tunnel with his mother, who had his arm wrapped around her.

Fans reacted to the photo with much empathy, as the receiver was on the other side of the emotional situation.

Fans felt bad for both Higgins and Hamlin and shared their feelings, hoping that the Bengals WR doesn't feel himself at blame for the incidental, rare injury.

In an article posted by Pro Football Talk early Tuesday morning, an update by Jordon Rooney, a marketing representative for Hamlin and a spokesperson for the Hamlin family, was mentioned.

Rooney said that Hamlin is fighting and the family is taking things minute by minute, hour by hour.

"I can’t speak specifically on his medical condition. I will say that he’s fighting, he’s a fighter.... The family is in good spirits. We’re honestly just taking it minute by minute, hour by hour.”

More updates will be provided on the status of Hamlin and the makeup game for the rest of the Bills-Bengals game. As of now, Hamlin is still in critical condition at the UC Medical Center.
