On Sunday, the Tennessee Titans suffered a 37-27 defeat against the Cincinnati Bengals at Nissan Stadium and fell to 3-11. The scoreline could have been much worse had the team not benched quarterback Will Levis midway through the game.

The sophomore star had a horrendous outing and was benched after throwing a pick-six in the third quarter. He threw 12 passes and completed 11, but only eight of those were to his teammates. Levis threw three interceptions, prompting the Titans to sub in veteran Mason Rudolph.

He had an impressive outing as he completed 21-of-26 pass attempts for 209 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

After Rudolph's strong display and Levis' horror show, Tennessee has decided to hand over the reins to the veterans for the Week 16 game against the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Fans were ecstatic about the team's decision and celebrated it on social media:

However, some weren't content with the Titans just benching the quarterback. They demanded the team also release the rookie:

"Just cut him already," wrote @btcguy35.
"Everyone knew Will Levis was trash and the Titans still drafted him," claimed @schlix_gawd.
"He's so rubbish, might as well just release him," opined @NFLEnthusiast1.

Will Levis Stats: QB's horror season

The Titans passed on making a move for a marquee quarterback in the offseason and trusted Will Levis to lead them. However, it has proven to be a terrible decision.

The 25-year-old has had a horrendous campaign. In 11 starts, he has thrown for 1,916 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has also tossed an abysmal 12 interceptions. His 18.5% bad throw rate ranks fourth in the league behind Colts' Anthony Richardson (28%), Carolina Panthers' Bryce Young (22.5%) and Chicago Bears' Caleb Williams (21.1%).

His performance against the Bengals was seemingly the final straw for the Titans' coaching staff, who will see the year out with Rudolph under center and decide whether to draft a quarterback in the first round, sign a marquee signal-caller or give Levis another chance in 2025.
