Travis Kelce had a rather quiet performance in the first half of Sunday's AFC championship game, catching just one pass for 8 yards. But he did make his presence felt in another aspect: extracurricular activity.

With 4:11 remaining in the first half, after Xavier Worthy scored a touchdown to give the Kansas City Chiefs a 14-10 lead, cameras caught the star tight end exchanging trash talk with safety Damar Hamlin. Defensive tackle Jordan Phillips responded by walking into him, making helmet-to-helmet contact – and that was when he tried to flop.

There was much outrage online in the aftermath.

"He's such an embarrassment," one user wrote.
"Where's the taunting flag? Two weeks in a row!!" one demanded.
"Enough with the flopping.." another begged.
"Kelce is a piece of trash," another retched.

The encounter resulted in an 8-yard unnecessary roughness penalty for Phillips that was enforced on the extra point attempt.

The Bills eventually reduced the deficit to 21-16 with a Josh Allen touchdown to Mack Hollins with 23 seconds before halftime, but the two-point attempt failed.

Recounting the last time Chiefs TE Travis Kelce flopped

The last time Travis Kelce flopped, it was in Week 15 of the 2023 season at the New England Patriots. A little less than five minutes into the third quarter, he and safety Myles Bryant got entangled in the end zone, and that was when he dropped himself to the turf in an attempt to draw a defensive pass interference penalty.

It did not work, and the Chiefs were forced to settle for a field goal. Fox’s cameras even caught his girlfriend, multiple-platinum pop superstar Taylor Swift, screaming at the referees from her suite.

The flop was part of a rough night for the tight end, who had had just three receptions for just 13 yards at the time of the flop and also dropped a potential touchdown that would have given the Chiefs a two-score lead, which they got via Patrick Mahomes finding running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

The defending Super Bowl champions would win the game 27-10 to secure their eleventh consecutive winning record under head coach Andy Reid.
