The first NFL game abroad was played in London in the 2007-2008 season. In Week 8 of that season, the New York Giants defeated the Miami Dolphins 13–10 in front of eighty thousand fans at Wembley Stadium. Since then, the league has returned yearly. Three games have taken place in London this season, with two being played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the other at Wembley Stadium.
The Minnesota Vikings faced the New Orleans Saints in Week 4 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The New York Giants also played the Green Bay Packers in Week 5 at the same stadium. The only game at Wembley Stadium was the aforementioned matchup between the Jaguars and the Broncos.
Are there NFL players from England playing this season?
While the NFL isn't flooded with players from England, there are a few who are from the United Kingdom. Washington Commanders linebacker Efe Obada, who grew up in the Netherlands and England, is currently in his fifth season in the NFL and first with the team. He has 17 tackles and three sacks in 11 games this season.
Giants punter Jamie Gillan is from Inverness, Scotland, and is currently in his fourth season in the league. So far, he has 47 punts for 2,245 yards, the 10th most in the league this season.
