On Sunday, Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns received a reality check in the season opener as the Dallas Cowboys rolled into Huntington Bank Field and thrashed them 33-17.
The quarterback had an underwhelming outing as he completed only 24-of-45 passes for 169 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He had an efficient game as a runner, carrying the ball five times for 39 yards.
However, he was often indecisive with the ball, and the Cowboys pass rush made him pay, sacking him six times. Fans on social media did not show any mercy to Watson and mocked him for his terrible performance.
"If you are a Browns fan go and check and see what Baker Mayfield has done. Absolutely nauseating," a fan said

Fans also reminisced about Joe Flacco's exceptional performances under center for the Browns. They claimed that the veteran's explosive display after coming off the couch and suiting up for the team proved that Watson's issues are skill-based and not due to poor playcalling.
"How badly do Browns fans want Joe Flacco back instead of their grossly overpaid and totally washed QB?" @JasonLaCanfora wrote.
"Joe Flacco proved last season that it isn’t a scheme issue or a play calling issue. It is a QB issue and only a QB issue. Deshaun Watson sucks," @rblanke19 opined.
"Joe Flacco I miss you," @NickKarma said.
Deshaun Watson's tough stretch continues
Deshaun Watson has had a difficult time personally and professionally in the last three years. In the 2021 offseason, the quarterback was accused of sexual misconduct by over two dozen, prompting the Houston Texans to bench him for the entire season.
Once he successfully avoided criminal indictment, he was traded to the Browns, who handed him a five-year, $230 million contract. However, the league suspended him for 11 games due to the accusations.
He finished the year with a 3–3 record as the starting quarterback and threw for 1,102 passing yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions. Watson started the 2023 season decently but was forced to miss three of the Browns' first nine games of the campaign.
However, Cleveland was exceptional with him on the field and had a 5-1 record. But in Week 10, he suffered a season-ending shoulder fracture.
He'd have hoped to have a strong start to the 2024 campaign and get his career back on track. However, his performance in Week 1 left a lot to be desired.
