George Pickens had a night to forget as the Steelers lost against the Bengals in the final week of the 2024 regular season to finish 10-7 for the year. It was their fourth straight loss and it now condemns them to waiting anxiously to see what the Chargers do against the Raiders to end their season. Should Los Angeles win, the Steelers would be the sixth seed and have to go on the road to the Ravens. Based on recent form, Baltimore would be the favorite to win that clash at home.
The reason for today's defeat to the Bengals does not lie solely on Pickens but the wide receiver was emblematic of a stuttering offense. He caught the ball only once on six targets and did not pick up a single yard for the game's duration. He dropped three throws that he should have caught. He got agitated by the fans' frustration with his mistakes and got caught up in a verbal altercation with the supporters inside the stadium.
Supporters were quick to slam him on X/Twitter after the Steelers lost 17-19 to the Bengals. Here are some of the comments from the social media platform.

Fans continued to pile on the wide receiver with many saying that he should not be in the conversation for the best primary wideouts in the league. Here are some more posts from X/Twitter.
"George Pickens should never be in the conversation as a top WR again" - declared one.
"George Pickens 0 yards is crazy" - wondered another.
"Steelers should trade George Pickens for a pack of gum and 3 high fives. Dude is a cancer and a bum." - commented a third.
Russell Wilson throws support behind George Pickens after Steelers' torrid loss to Bengals
Russell Wilson threw his support behind George Pickens after the game, saying that he is expecting the wide receiver to come up clutch in the playoffs.
"I believe in George. I believe in who he is, the player that he is. He has been a star for us all season and he is going to be a difference-maker obviously for us in the playoffs. (We're) looking forward to that! What he can do, what he can do together. (I'm) not blinking on George. If anybody believes in him, I definitely do" - said the Pittsburgh quarterback
The Steelers better hope that Wilson is right because their offense certainly needs some help. They fell from 10-3 to 10-7 to finish the season primarily because they failed to score 20 points in their last four matches.
