Derek Carr entered 2022 with high hopes. He had Davante Adams out wide, Darren Waller underneath, and a quality running back in Josh Jacobs. Instead, the team struggled as much as they had in recent years.
After roughly a decade with the team, he was benched by new head coach Josh McDaniels and the quarterback took it as his signal to prepare to move on. Carr took to Twitter today to post a lengthy goodbye message to Raiders Nation.
In response, fans thanked him for his work, effort, and heart over the last decade. However, many others began to speculate about his future. Here's some of what fans were predicting:

What did Derek Carr say in his farewell message to Raiders fans?
Derek Carr took to Twitter on January 12th to post a message that didn't fit within the character limits of the platform. Instead, he attached an image with his full message. The full post is below:
"Raider Nation it breaks my heart I didn't get an opportunity to say goodbye in person... I gave you everything I had, every single day, in season, and in the offseason. It certainly wasn't perfect, but I hope that I was able to leave you with more than a few great memories..."
He went on to thank Oakland and Las Vegas for their support as well as the coaches, staff, and others. He went on to talk about the future:
"I once said that if I'm not a Raider I would rather be at home and I meant that, but I never envisioned t ending this way. That fire burning inside of me to win a championship still rages... I look forward to a new city and a new team... Winning a championship is what I've always wanted..."
Carr will be leaving behind a nine-year tenure in which he helped the team reach the playoffs twice and avoid losing seasons three times. The best season of his career with the team came in 2016, when the Raiders went 12-4. Carr's campaign ended early due to injury, so the team ended up playing a backup quarterback in the playoffs.
From a statistical standpoint, Carr was nothing if not consistent. In nine seasons, he has thrown fewer than 20 touchdown passes once and has only thrown more than 20 touchdown passes once. With the quarterback awaiting his departure, many are wondering who will ultimately replace him.
