Aaron Rodgers took a leave of absence on the first day of the mandatory minicamp with the entire New York Jets team. As head coach Robert Saleh broke the news to the media members, the NFL fans couldn’t help themselves but figure out the reason behind this no-show from A-Rod.

Rodgers came to the Jets after a blockbuster summer trade with the Green Bay Packers. However, the four-time NFL MVP injured his Achilles in the first game of the season and had to sit out for an entire year.

The expectation was that the 40-year-old would do everything in his power to take the Jets to glory. However, this recent absence has doused the hopes of the fans.

ESPN reporter Rich Cimini broke the news of Aaron Rodgers missing out on the mandatory camp on X (previously Twitter):

“Aaron Rodgers also is not attending minicamp. It is NOT excused, per Saleh. Therefore, he is subject to fine. Saleh said Rodgers had a previous engagement, an event that is ‘important to him'.”

The NFL fans latched on to the words of Rodgers and combined with his conspiracy theory-indulgent past, came up with various theories on his absence.

“He’s recording an episode of InfoWars with Alex Jones.”
“He's going on the Alex Jones show today at 12 noon.”

One fan called out the 2011 Super Bowl winner’s indulgence in psychedelic substances as the reason for missing the camp.

“The ayahuasca that fuels his conspiracy theories ain’t gonna smoke itself,” wrote another fan.

However, several fans also called out his political ambitions and affinity as a possible reason for ditching the minicamp.

“He is running for VP isn’t he…,” wrote one fan on X.
“RFKJR rally,” wrote another NFL fan.
“RFK fundraiser,” suggested one fan.

Unlike Aaron Rodgers to miss out

Throughout the preseason, Aaron Rodgers diligently attended the training sessions with the Jets squad, including the voluntary ones. As per reports, Rodgers was present with the team on June 10, a photoshoot day.

However, he has chosen to skip the two training sessions that will be conducted during the mandatory minicamp lasting till June 13. After that, the Jets will embark on training camp likely to begin by July 20.
