The saga revolving around the New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers may have taken yet another turn. The Jets have parted ways with Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas and are 3-8.

On Sunday morning, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport took to X to share a report that Rodgers has been dealing with a few injuries this season. The extent of the veteran quarterback's injury remains unknown as he reportedly turned down imaging to get an official diagnosis.

"As for Rodgers, he's been banged up this season, fighting hamstring, knee and ankle injuries while being off and on the injury report," Rapoport wrote. "How injured is he? It's unclear.
"One source explained that Rodgers has resisted getting scans done, not wanting to reveal the severity of his injuries out of fear of having to come off the field. He has insisted that he keep playing."

Rodgers reportedly fears that the scans would reveal serious injuries and take him off the field for an extended period. Fans on X immediately reacted to the news and weren't that shocked that he was once again part of a controversy.

The terms "selfish" and "overrated" were used to describe Rodgers' actions. The former NFL MVP has reportedly been dealing with ankle, hamstring and knee injuries for most of the season. While it's honorable to want to stay on the field, injuries could hinder his performance.

"Most selfish overrated superstar in recent memory," one fan said.
"For sure hasn't looked comfortable back there for him. But can't be used as an excuse. It's just stubborn if he's that hurt where he realistically shouldn't be playing," another fan said.
"I don’t know the NFL rules but refusing to be examined for injury sounds like it can’t be ethical. If a guy looks like they have a concussion they can’t refuse examination," one fan wrote.

Some fans also questioned whether Rodgers' actions could be deemed as a violation of NFL rules. If teams don't report a player's injury on the weekly injury report, fines and loss of draft picks are two of the penalties they could face.

"What a disaster and a good lesson for all GM's out there,"-one fan commented.
"Or maybe he’s just old and washed and needs to retire…"-a fan said.
"Everything about the Aaron Rodgers experience seems like the absolute worst," another fan wrote.

Will Aaron Rodgers return to the New York Jets in 2025?

The New York Jets traded for Aaron Rodgers with the hope that he would turn the organization around. However, the idea that he could have the same effect on the Jets that Tom Brady had on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quickly disappeared.

After suffering an Achilles injury just minutes into his Jets debut in 2023, Rodgers has struggled this season. His coach and general manager were both fired and there are reports that he could be next.

New York has the option to release Rodgers after this season but if he wants to retire before that, he could. Rodgers was asked on Nov. 13 if he wanted to play in 2025 and his response wasn't convincing.

"I think so, yeah," Rodgers told reporters.

New York Jets owner Woody Johnson reportedly bounced the idea of benching Rodgers just a few weeks ago. With the quarterback's performance still not improving, it wouldn't be a surprise if they parted ways with him this offseason.
