Before his final college football game against Brigham Young University in the Alamo Bowl, Colorado Buffaloes superstar Shedeur Sanders had said that he'd let the world know which team he'd get picked by in the 2025 NFL Draft with his cleats.

While he wore the customary black shoes, reporters snapped a picture of custom-made New York Giants-themed cleats in his locker. It was seemingly Sanders' unique way of revealing that he'd be heading to New Jersey in 2025.

As excited as Giants fans probably were after Sanders' revelation, it likely subsided a bit after his performance in the Alamo Bowl against BYU. The 22-year-old completed 16 pass attempts for 208 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

He also had nine rush attempts for a scarcely believable -34 yards. His decision-making was baffling, especially when bailing on the pocket to avoid a sack and backpedaling before getting taken down by a defender.

Fans on social media showed Sanders no mercy in a scathing indictment of his performance. Some claimed that the quarterback choosing the Giants as his landing spot played a role in his dismal performance, with one tweeting:

"Shedeur put on Giants cleats, and his life started falling apart."

Some claimed that Sanders' dismal outing in the Alamo Bowl proved Miami Hurricanes star Cam Ward should be the first quarterback taken off the board in the 2025 NFL draft:

"I’ll never understand the people that think Shedeur Sanders is a better QB than Cam Ward" - wrote BelieveNBroward.
"Give me Cam Ward over Shedeur Sanders in the NFL Draft" - demanded zachmckinnell.
"For the record, I would draft Cam Ward over Shedeur Sanders and I wouldn't even hesitate" - claimed ReichelRadio.
"Cam Ward been better. Shedeur got a noodle, a sack fetish and runs a 5.3," - opined PaulTweetsRIP.

Shedeur Sanders draft projection: Is QB joining the Giants a lock?

Shedeur Sanders is expected to be the first quarterback taken off the board in the 2025 NFL draft.

While the common consensus was that he'd be the top pick, his coach and father, Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, said that they'd handpick the 22-year-old's landing spot. Sanders suggested that they'd ask the team with the first overall pick to avoid drafting him if it's not a franchise they intend on joining.

The 2-13 Giants hold the top pick in the draft and will remain atop the board if they lose their final two games of the season. However, if they win on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts and the four 3-12 teams lose their games, New York will slip to sixth in the draft order.

However, even if they win a game or two, slip in the draft and allow another team to pick Sanders, they would likely end up with Shedeur on the roster. The father-son duo has seemingly made up their minds and will force a move to the Giants if push comes to shove.

New York landed its last franchise quarterback, Hall of Famer Eli Manning, after his father Archie Manning had told the Los Angeles Chargers, then known as the San Diego Chargers, who picked the Ole Miss star first overall in the 2004 NFL draft, that his son wouldn't play for them.

He forced the franchise to trade the quarterback to the Giants. Eli would go on to lead them to two Super Bowl wins. It remains to be seen whether history repeats itself with Shedeur Sanders.
