Jordan Poyer drops hint on next destination

Buffalo Bills star safety Jordan Poyer is about to test free agency, and there is a possibility he will not return to the franchise next season. He has spent the previous six seasons in the NFL with the Bills.

Poyer recently detailed on his podcast the conditions that could influence his free agency decision if he decides to leave Buffalo.

Here's what the Bills safety said:

“I’m going to enjoy this process, If that’s Buffalo, been out there for six years, you know what to do. If not, that’s just part of the business.
"A lot of people ask me, ‘if it wasn’t Buffalo, then where would you go?’ I kinda ponder the question every once in a while, would love to go to a state that doesn’t take half of my money.'”

If Poyer wants to play in a place where the state tax isn't as high and the weather is good, then certain teams make sense. These include the Las Vegas Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Raiders had one of the worst defenses in the NFL this past season, and if they can get Poyer on board, that would be a great way to change their fortunes.

Jordan Poyer would make a difference for many teams

Poyer had 44 solo tackles, 19 assists, and four interceptions in 12 games for the Buffalo Bills last season. Despite playing through an elbow injury, the Bills safety was able to get another Pro Bowl selection.

There is little doubt that he will have an impact on whichever team he ends up with because he is a veteran with extensive experience in big games. Poyer signed a two-year, $19,500,000 contract with the Buffalo Bills in 2020, and it will be fascinating to see what the figure will be this time around.

He will be 32 years old before the start of next season, and a long-term contract for him seems unlikley. The Bills could still make a move for Poyer in free agency, but they are likely to be outbid by another team.
