In a recent media interview, Tom Brady ripped apart the NFL’s new phenomenon of making young quarterbacks take the field in their rookie years. However, former quarterback and two-time Super Bowl winner Phil Simms disagrees with Brady’s assessment.

Brady was speaking to Stephen A. Smith when the seven-time Super Bowl winner spoke out about this practice and suggested the game has dumbed down because of it. However, the former Simms took issue with this line of thought.

The former New York Giants quarterback on his podcast "Simms Complete" poked at the holes in Brady’s theory.

“I heard the Tom Brady comments. I disagree that you’re just throwing them into this," Simms said. "One, they’re going to play because they’re the most talented quarterback on the team. It’s not like they’ve got a backup, like ‘Well, we’re just playing him because we drafted him.’ No.

“These guys have the talent and the experience. It’s the number of throws that they are getting in college that I think’s making the transition easier. The quarterback position just keeps elevating. I think Patrick Mahomes many years ago changed the landscape.”

Simms credited the evolution of college programs on his show. He also highlighted Patrick Mahomes, who took over the league from his second year onwards.

Tom Brady gets called out by NFL analyst

Not only the former NFL greats, but football analysts have also called out the former New England Patriots signal-caller. Jeff Darlington on ESPN’s "Pro Football Talk" spoke his mind on the matter.

"I don't know, man," Darlington said. "It just says, 'Get off my lawn.' ... Honestly, even Tom Brady himself, he would have started his rookie year if not for the fact that he was fourth on the depth chart and worked his way up and Drew Bledsoe was playing really good football. It's all situational."

Tom Brady hasn’t even embarked on his broadcaster role yet and is turning heads with his analysis of the modern game. The 15-time Pro Bowler will start his new $375 million job with Fox Sports on Sept. 8 with the Cleveland Browns vs. the Dallas Cowboys matchup.
