NFL insider Adam Schefter added another person to the list of potential new Dallas Cowboys head coaches. Besides Deion Sanders, Schefter said that former All-Pro tight end Jason Witten could find his way back to AT&T Stadium this offseason.

After a tumultuous 2024 season (7-10), the Cowboys decided not to extend Mike McCarthy. Several names were mentioned as candidates to take over from him. During Tuesday's edition of the Pat McAfee Show, Schefter said that Witten was among them.

"All I can say is surely a possibility right now. Again, it gives you enough content to talk about; it's possible. I think, in my mind, Jason Witten would be possible. That's another one that's possible," Schefter said.

Deion Sanders was named as a candidate to join the Cowboys even in the middle of the season. However, he has refused to leave Colorado.

Jason Witten played 16 seasons with the Lone Star, taking the field for 271 games and catching 1,228 passes for 13,046 yards and 74 touchdowns.

Once his playing days were over after a lone season with the Las Vegas Raiders, he became the head coach of Liberty Christian School in Argyle, Texas. In four years, he's posted a 38-11 record, including a 27-1 register in the past two seasons, which ended in a championship for Witten's squad.

Back in October 2024, Jerry Jones said Witten could be Dallas' version of Dan Campbell. That could be the major sign that fans need to know Jones' level of interest in the former tight end.

Adam Schefter names Eagles coordinator as potential options for Cowboys HC job

According to Adam Schefter, another intriguing option for Dallas is helping divisional rivals the Philadelphia Eagles thrive in the 2024 NFL season. On "Monday Night Countdown," the senior insider said Kellen Moore could be on the Cowboys' file.

“Obviously it’s new, it’s just beginning," Schefter said. "We’ll see what that brings them. A lot of names floating around out there. I think at some point in time they could have some level in the Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.
"Potentially even Jason Witten, an all-time franchise great. But this is very early on. Very preliminary. And we’ll see ultimately where Jerry Jones goes with his search. But the Cowboys are in the market for a new head coach."

Dallas hasn't won a Super Bowl in 30 years as fans and management are getting restless about the fact.
