NFL insider gives Mike Williams fantasy football managers something extra to think about ahead of Week 1 finale vs 49ers

Mike Williams is coming off the dreaded ACL injury. However, despite missing much of the 2023 season, fantasy managers believe they still have a use for the wide receiver this season. Some eager managers might even have placed him in their lineup in Week 1.

However, just because he is expected to be healthy for the game doesn't mean he will be fully available. At least, that is what NFL insider Ian Rapoport believes. Speaking in a segment on Friday's edition of "Good Morning Football," Rapoport believed Williams could be on a "pitch count" on Monday Night Football.

"Mike Williams, one of the big free agent signings for the New York Jets, dealing with an ACL injury, trying to come all the way back, he was a full participant this week in practice. That is an indication that he is good to go and will make his debut for the Jets on Monday," Rapoport said [0:57].
"Wouldn't be surprised if there's a little bit of a pitch count slash easing in, just because he's coming off that ACL tear, but he should be on the field Monday for the Jets," he added.

In addition to Williams' availability, the hampered receiver room could also have somewhat of an effect on Aaron Rodgers, who is facing one of his biggest historical rivals.

The New York Jets quarterback will take on Kyle Shanahan, who has ended Rodgers' seasons on multiple occasions in the playoffs and will need everyone he can get.

Potential Mike Williams pitch count offers extra opportunities to other Jets players

With Mike Williams potentially getting slow-rolled into the offense in Week 1, it will likely offer extra opportunities to others. Garrett Wilson might see some extra targets in the contest. Allen Lazard also might see a boost in his opportunities.

In a few instances, it might even add a boost to the number of carries for Breece Hall. If Aaron Rodgers doesn't like what he sees in the matchup of Wilson's route and the zone coverage at the line, he could be open for a run as a way to get to the next play. This would be instead of choosing to hit Allen Lazard, who will be elevated to face the second-best cornerback on the 49ers.

Either way, seemingly all managers of Jets players except Mike Williams are in line for a boost in Week 1.
