NFL insider Adam Schefter just dropped details of a conversation with Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders concerning the now-vacant Dallas Cowboys head coaching position. It comes on the heels of the Jerry Jones-owned team parting ways with Mike McCarthy after a five-season tenure.

Schefter, on "UNSPORTSMANLIKE Radio," shared that Sanders spoke about his respect for Cowboys owner Jones but did not declare any NFL ambitions.

“I don’t know,” Sanders replied when Schefter pressed him on the subject Monday night.

That said, Schefter also revealed that Sanders has so much love and respect for Jerry Jones that if the 81-year-old calls him, he's going to listen.

"He made it very clear he loves it there. And he loves Jerry Jones. Honestly that’s a great spot to be in if you’re Deion Sanders. You’re gonna have two winning hands here if you can even play both of them," added the ESPN Senior NFL Insider.

Further, Adam Schefter recalled an NFL general manager's words, who made a bold prediction 16-18 months ago that the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys is going to be Deion Sanders. Fast forward to today, and the headlines similar to that prediction are harder to dismiss.

Deion Sanders is rooted in his Colorado success.

Although Coach Prime broke the silence over the intriguing possibility of returning to the NFL in Dallas Cowboys, his ties to CU remain strong.

“To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful, and it's intriguing,” Sanders said, confirming the conversation with Jones. “But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”

Sanders has a deep bond with the Buffs, who were reshaped by the NFL Hall of Famer after a dismal 1–11 season before his arrival ahead of the 2023 season.

Sanders’ arrival started a new era for the NCAA team. With the use of the transfer portal, he revamped nearly the entire roster and brought in 50 new players, including his sons, Shedeur and Shilo, and standout recruit, Travis Hunter.

Although the Buffaloes’ performance in 2023 was not flawless, it did show Sanders' leadership as they finished 4–8 in the regular season.

As for his history with the Dallas Cowboys, he outperformed during his time as a player with the team and contributed to a Super Bowl win in 1996.
