Pro Football Hall of Famer Rod Woodson has crowned Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson as this year’s MVP over Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen. Speaking to TMZ Sports this week, Woodson didn’t mince words.
"It's no question in my head," Woodson said, "Lamar Jackson is the MVP."
Woodson's pick comes at a time when the MVP race tightens in the final stretch of the season.
Statistically speaking, Jackson, who signed a $260 million extension ahead of last season, holds a significant edge in key categories. It includes 39 passing TDs compared to Josh Allen’s 26. It is a gap that Woodson has called “daunting.”

That said, Woodson maintained respect for the Bills QB.
“I’ve got much love for Josh,” Woodson said clarifying that his preference for Jackson is based on performance.
Beyond individual accolades, Rod Woodson believes that Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens are bound to make waves in the postseason.
"Once the postseason gets here, I don't think anybody wants to face the Ravens," he said.
Is Lamar Jackson the man of the moment as opposed to Josh Allen for the MVP race?
Lamar Jackson shattered the NFL’s all-time QB rushing record in Week 17. Moreover, during the Ravens' three-game winning streak, the QB has scored 11 total touchdowns. Consequently, it has helped his team to the top of the AFC North, which seemed unlikely just weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Bills QB Josh Allen remains the frontrunner. All thanks to his league-leading metrics in passer rating, QBR and Pro Football Focus grades.
Coming to the statistics, Jackson has thrown for 3,955 yards and 39 touchdowns with just four interceptions. Comparatively, Allen has 3,549 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Although Allen edges Jackson in rushing touchdowns with 11 compared to four, it is the Ravens QB's efficiency in playing that sets him apart. Jackson has 6.6 yards per carry compared to Allen's 5.3.
Even though Allen has guided the Bills and kept them in contention for the No. 2 seed in the AFC, a head-to-head clash may weigh heavily in Jackson’s favor.
Notably, in the Bills vs Ravens clash in September, where Baltimore won over Buffalo, Jackson outshined Allen.
Additionally, Lamar Jackson's 2024 campaign also stacks up favorably against his two previous MVP-winning seasons (2019, 2023). This year marks the best statistical performance of his career.
