NFL teams are reportedly interested in Super Bowl-winning HC Jon Gruden in the 2025 carousel. As the 2024 season is heading toward the conclusion of its regular season, teams have been paying close attention to acquiring their desired players and coaches.
On Tuesday's episode of NFL Network's Good Morning Football, Tom Pelissero joined Peter Schrager to discuss the potential attention and changes in coaches in 2025. Pelissero named Jon Grudge for the upcoming coaching carousel.
"Keep an eye on Jon Gruden. We had not seen Gruden on a full-time basis in the NFL since back in 2021 when he resigned after offensive emails leaked media that he had sent while working as an analyst at ESPN. However, he has remained engaged. We saw him on the sidelines with the Bucs owners earlier this fall. We saw him with the Saints back in training camp last year.

Pelissero also said that "multiple teams" have eyes on Gruden. He added:

"I would not be surprised at all if, in the coming weeks, you see Jon Gruden's name popping up interviewing for a head coaching job."
Gruden previously worked as the Las Vegas Raiders head coach from 2018 to 2021. He had also worked for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2002 to 2008 and, prior to that, was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders.
Who are the other names in the NFL coaching cycle for 2025?
Aside from Jon Gruden, Mike Vrabel and Ben Johnson are hot names in the NFL coaching cycle for the 2025 season. Earlier this week, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that several teams have eyes on Vrabel, and he could be the most coveted HC candidate. Speaking of Vrabel, Rapoport said:
"Mike Vrabel has been linked to the Ohio State job, which is not open. Ryan Day is still the head coach at Ohio State. They play on Wednesday. If something really terrible happens and they decided to make a change, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ohio State take a look at Vrabel as well.”
Another name for the head coach's top-pick candidate could be Ben Johnson. As per Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, Johnson could be on the shortlist of many teams. In his appearance on Amazon's NFL on Prime program show, Breer said:
"Ben Johnson's certainly going to be at the top of a lot of lists. But the Lions' offensive coordinator is planning on taking a very different approach to this hiring cycle than he has in the last couple."
