Aaron Rodgers' time with the New York Jets could be extended if recent rumors are to believed. The four-time NFL MVP didn't have the best 2024 season, struggling to lead his team to wins and ultimately finishing the campaign with a 5-12 record, regressing from last season (7-10) when he only played four snaps.
Aaron Glenn is the second Detroit Lions coordinator to leave the franchise and become a coach after their painful defeat against the Washington Commanders on Saturday. He is set to lead the Jets to the promised land and as soon as reports about his hiring was announced, Rodgers' name was brought up.
When it seemed like Rodgers would be shown the exit door, radio host Michael Kay shared new details that give him hope to extend his tenure at MetLife Stadium.
"There's word out there, there's been leaks I've heard, that Aaron Glenn has made it known that he would like to keep Aaron Rodgers," Kay said on Wednesday, via Jets reporter Harrison Glaser's tweet.

In his first full season with the Jets, Rodgers struggled to make an impact. The front office traded for Davante Adams, but the situation didn't change. After Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas were fired, many thought Rodgers was done, but Glenn might have different plans.
In 17 games while dealing with several injuries, Rodgers threw for 3,897 passing yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
NFL fans react to rumors about Aaron Glenn, Aaron Rodgers
Once Harrison Glaser shared the rumor, reactions didn't take long to arrive as lenty of fans had something to say about it. Some agreed while others said that it should be a solution for the short or midterm.
"Smart, he knows there’s no better option and if he gets rid of Rodgers his first season as a HC he will have a 3 win team. Smart," one fan said.
"Good. We don’t have another option anyway. This really should be a no brainer as long as Rodgers wants to come back," another fan wrote.
"Great coach Smart guy He gets it," one fan commented.
Others drew the plan for the Jets' eventual success.
"It makes sense. Draft a qb in the 2nd or 3rd like Dart/McCord. Have them sit a year behind a HOF Qb," a fan tweeted.
"I mean obviously he’s not gonna want to come here and be stuck with a 4-5 win team with Tyrod or whoever going on year 15 with out the playoffs and even more angry fan base," one fan commented.
"I hope it's true and really do and bring in Eric Bieniemy as the OC he's good with veteran quarterbacks. If the jets do that I'll be the most happiest jets fan in the planet," another fan wrote.
After another poor season, it seems like Jets fans have reasons to dream again.
