NFL Trade Rumors: DK Metcalf linked with blockbuster trade to Chiefs' rivals

DK Metcalf has been named a potential trade chip for the Seattle Seahawks. After a solid 2024 season with the NFC West franchise, Metcalf might be out of Lumen Field and some have already identified which team could use his services. One NFL coordinator thinks Metcalf can be the right piece for Justin Herbert, LA Chargers.

ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler talked with executives, scouts and personnel around the league to get some predictions for the offseason. According to one coordinator, Metcalf could be a good addition to the Chargers.

"The Seahawks can still get good value for him, and he could pair with Ladd McConkey for a good inside-out tandem," the unknown coordinator said. "[Justin] Herbert to Metcalf would be scary. I think [Los Angeles] will be looking to help the quarterback in a big way."

Metcalf has been a solid contributor to the Seahawks, but he's been one or two steps behind the best wide receivers in the league. Metcalf posted 66 catches this season, racking up 992 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns.

The Seahawks were in the mix to win the NFC West before the LA Rams took over down the stretch.

Having DK Metcalf playing behind Ladd McConkey for the Chargers could unlock their potential. Justin Herbert has been criticized for his lack of success in the postseason and perhaps Metcalf can help him take the team to a new level.

DK Metcalf talked about disastrous final TNF of season between Seahawks-Bears

The 2024 NFL season didn't end the best way for DK Metcalf and the Seattle Seahawks. The team won the final Thursday Night Football of the season against the Chicago Bears 6-3. Not a single touchdown was scored during that game and the aerial game was non-existent.

Talking with reporters, Metcalf said the offense's struggles responded to the lack of execution from the Seahawks.

“I’ve got to go back and watch the film," Metcalf admitted. "From my perspective, I think we’ve just got to run the ball more. "

The Seahawks finished the season with a 10-7 record, but the Rams had the tiebreaker, winning the NFC West and advancing to the playoffs.
