The NFL continues to increase its international fanbase each season. This year the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks played the first NFL game in Germany. With games already taking place in Mexico City and London, the league is constantly looking to find ways to broaden its reach.

Now, there is word that they may play future games in Barcelona, Spain. Barcelona said that they are in talks with the National Football League to host games at Spotify Camp Nou stadium.

The city has had trouble hosting events in the stadium the last few years. With the new sponsorship deal with Spotify and recent improvements, it could be the ideal location for an NFL game. The stadium holds a whopping 99,000 fans and will allow the game of American football to grow across Europe.
The Miami Dolphins recently held an event in Barcelona to improve international fan engagement and have begun selling clothing in some of their local sports stores.
The renovations to Spotify Camp Nou aren't expected to be done until 2024 so league games won't be expected in Barcelona until at least then.
Mexico City won't host an NFL game in 2023
The news that the league is looking to host gamesin Barcelona, Spain comes just about a week after another big announcement in the their international series.
Next season, there won't be any games held in Mexico City, Mexico. The Estadio Azteca where the games are hed will be undergoing renovations in anticipation for the World Cup in 2026. FIFA approved the stadium to be a host as part of the 2026 World Cup that will be hosted across North America.
But, in order to keep the selection, the stadium was expected to undergo significant renovations to improve fan experiences and player accommodations.
This is no doubt disappointing to Mexico City, as they went two years without hosting the game due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The league could return to Mexico City to play in 2024 if the renovations have been completed.
The league then announced that Munich, Germany will likely host two games next season since Mexico City won't be on the schedule. The logistics of scheduling another game in Munich are still ongoing.
Along with the three games already planned for London, there will be five international games played in 2023.
