In the season finale of Monday Night Football, the Detroit Lions took on Nick Bosa's San Francisco 49ers, delivering an enthralling contest. The rematch of last year's NFC Championship Game was one of the most exciting primetime games of the season, ending 40-34 in the Lions' favor.
49ers star Nick Bosa was unsurprisingly disappointed with the result, which saw his team drop to 6-10. However, he couldn't help but praise the Lions and the culture coach Dan Campbell has built since arriving in 2021.
In the post-game press conference, the defensive lineman lauded the Lions for not letting adversities affect them and for staying true to themselves:
"They've had a ton of injuries on defense which hurts 'em, but the mentality of the head coach, you can see it throughout everybody. It's really a cool team, I can just see from afar that it's probably a fun team to play for, and they come out, and they play to win every game, and I respect that."

Bosa's admiration for the Lions prompted fans to speculate that he secretly wants to play for them, with one tweeting:
"Bosa to Lions confirmed"
A few fans began daydreaming about a pass rush featuring Bosa and Aidan Hutchinson:
"Could you imagine Hutch and Bosa on opposite sides?" - remarked @seacdm2003
"Bosa and Hutchinson would FEED generations of families" - claimed @Rest0retheroar
"Him and Aiden is not fair" - wrote @MP23___
Nick Bosa to the Lions? A financially unfeasible move
Nick Bosa and Aidan Hutchinson lining up on opposite sides would likely turn the Lions into the best pass-rushing unit in the NFL. With an offense as innovative and dynamic as theirs and a defense led by two of the best defensive linemen in the game, Detroit could become a juggernaut.
However, Bosa's $34 million-a-year salary would be difficult to accommodate for the Lions. Several stars on the roster like Hutchinson, center Frank Ragnow, tight end Sam LaPorta and safety Brian Branch will have only a year left on their current deals at the end of the 2025 season.
The Lions' ability to retain would be severely hampered if they take on Bosa's contract. They'd also have to part ways with multiple picks, and given their excellent recent draft history, they might be reluctant to part ways with too many assets to acquire the 49ers star.
As exciting as the prospect of Bosa playing for the Lions is, it's difficult to envision the team making a move for him.
