With the playoff bracket set, the Detroit Lions and the Kansas City Chiefs are the two big favorites. They have earned the first overall seed in their respective conferences, will have a bye during the Wild Card Round and will also play all their playoff games at home until the Super Bowl.
The big "if", of course, is whether they'll make it to the Super Bowl. While the Chiefs are back-to-back champions, the Lions have never played in the big game. And in a loaded NFC, there are plenty of teams that could challenge them for the win.
Nick Wright is one of Detroit's doubters. The Fox Sports analyst believes that Dan Campbell's team does not defend well, and the seed #2, the Philadelphia Eagles, has a better shot of winning the conference:
I obviously don't think they should be the [Super Bowl] favorites over the Chiefs. I think that's an absurdity. I don't think they're better than Philly. If we do get Philly-Detroit in the NFC Championship game, even though it will be in Detroit, I think Philly would win that. Philly has a very good but not great offense. They [Lions] have a great offense. Philly, on the other hand, has a great defense, and Detroit doesn't have a very good defense. Detroit has a pretty bad defense... So no, I don’t think they’re the best team in the NFC, and they’re certainly not better than the Chiefs.

Lions are considered Super Bowl favorites by betting markets
Dan Campbell's team is considered the favorite in Vegas, with the Kansas City Chiefs, the Baltimore Ravens, the Buffalo Bills and the Philadelphia Eagles coming behind.
Injuries have badly affected Detroit in 2024, especially on the defensive side of the ball. For instance, superstar Aidan Hutchinson ended the year with 7.5 sacks, leading the team. This wouldn't be much of an issue, had Hutchinson not played in just five games before going down with a season-ending injury.
On the other hand, teams like the Kansas City Chiefs are getting healthier, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Detroit has a big chance, but it won't be easy.
