One of the biggest public discourses over the previous week was the Kansas City Chiefs and the perceived notion about them getting favorable calls in their run to two consecutive Super Bowls wins. The team is now one win away from making it to the mega event for a third consecutive season.

Notable Kansas City Chiefs fan and Fox Sports host Nick Wright posted on social media his displeasure with ESPN's Adam Schefter. The ESPN analyst had posted about the penalty discrepancy between the Chiefs and their opponents during the team's eight-game postseason winning streak.

"I get why the anonymous account are feeding this: They get paid off of engagement & that’s their hustle. But for @AdamSchefter , who makes *9M a year*, feed into this on arguably the single best day of football of the year, just to satisfy the algorithm, is a disservice to fans."

The post in question was Schefter writing that during their postseason winning streak, the Chiefs have not been called for roughing the passer and have only one unnecessary roughness penalty.

However, their opponents have been called for six roughing the passers and four unnecessary roughness penalties. In addition, he wrote an article about the potential expansion of the NFL review and angled it towards Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs quarterback was also asked about the idea that his team is "getting calls" from the referees on Wednesday and refuted that claim.

"I don't feel that way. At the end of the day, the referees are doing their best to call the game as fair and as proper as they possibly can. All you can do is go out there and play the game that you love as hard as you can and live with the results. ... I feel like I've just continued to play the game, and I just try to win, and whatever happens kind of happens." h/t ESPN

It will be interesting to see how the AFC Championship Game is officiated as the NFL referees could be trying to swallow the whistle with the discourse.

What NFL replay expansions is the league looking into?

The NFL has not been afraid to tinker with their replay rules in order to help assist the referees on the field. The NFL Competition Committee meets annually and the belief is that quarterback slides are going to be discussed as being potentially reviewable.

This is one of the first times that the NFL is looking at something that could potentially target the offensive team through their replay system.

However, at the end of the day, the idea is for reviews to help clean the game up from egregious and game-changing incorrect calls. Will the NFL institute expanding replays to quarterback slides?
