Ahead of their bout with the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys got a huge update on quarterback Dak Prescott. He is reportedly not going to play and still needs to show improvement before he is cleared to return, though that might be as early as next week.
Following their loss in Week 1, the Cowboys were in dire straits. Their starting quarterback was out for the foreseeable future and neither the offense nor defense looked particularly good.
Since then, they've reeled off four wins in a row and are looking to make it five and take first place on the points table on Sunday. That would also give the Eagles their first loss.

There has been speculation amongst NFL fans that the Cowboys have a legitimate quarterback controversy on their hands. There's even a theory that they're keeping the starter out even after he is fully recovered while the team wins with backup quarterback Cooper Rush.
NFL fans have reacted to the latest injury update, with many believing Dak Prescott shouldn't come back now.
Rush has won the last four games for the Cowboys and is cumulatively 5-0 in his career as a starter.
Who should the Cowboys roll with: Dak Prescott or Cooper Rush?
While the Cowboys have been winning and have totally turned their season around, they've been without a Pro Bowl quarterback. It's been a surprise to see the team do so well when they haven't exactly had a cakewalk of a schedule.
With Cooper Rush, they've defeated the defending AFC champions Cincinnati Bengals and the defending Super Bowl champions Los Angeles Rams. They also beat the New York Giants who have a 4-1 record.
For this reason, many fans want Rush to stay the starter, with even owner Jerry Jones hinting at such a possibility.
However, that would probably not be the wisest decision. Since they are winning games, there's perhaps no pressure to rush Dak Prescott back, but when he's ready, his job should be waiting for him.
Over the years, the Cowboys have had an extremely explosive offense. When Prescott has been injured, which has now occurred in his two major stints, as well as a few other missed games here and there, their offense drops off in efficiency.
They're simply not as good of an offense without Dak Prescott. The defense has been playing well in their win streak, but they need their starting quarterback to return and take some of the pressure off. As soon as he's ready, it shouldn't be an issue.
