A social media exchange arose when free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr defended his NFL accomplishments. The debate happened after his series of emotional tweets about former Ravens teammate Lamar Jackson's record-breaking Christmas Day performance.
The interaction involved Beckham Jr., recently waived by the Miami Dolphins, and a Kentucky fan. OBJ posted three consecutive tweets about Jackson's historic game against the Texans, where Jackson broke Michael Vick's all-time quarterback rushing record.
On Thursday, Beckham Jr. took to X (formerly Twitter), first posting;
"@Lj_era8 just 🤮🤮".

He followed with another tweet.
"Words don't do justice for seeing what @Lj_era8 does in person...."
One fan (@BanteredB_) didn't like OBJ's initial tweet, so the LA-born wide receiver replied to their post.
Bztch im me of the NFL… I did what I did and needed to do patna . Lotta politics n Shxt u don’t kno n could never kno about. It ain’t just football. But I kno one thing. U come in this game to make history and be a legend. I did tht and more. Merry chrimmma la bih.
The debate intensified when a Kentucky fan commented on the above reply;
"Bro made 1 catch and thinks he's the GOAT."
And then, Odell Beckham Jr</a> fired back.
"nah the funny part is a made plenty of catches… and u and somebody else made that Shxt a conversation, u ain't never hear me talkin bout myself patna."
Jackson's Christmas Day showing gave the Ravens a commanding 31-2 victory. His 168 yards and three combined touchdowns strengthened his case for a third NFL MVP award, challenging current favorite Josh Allen.
Odell Beckham Jr's possible landing spots
The 32-year-old receiver's career has taken several turns recently. After signing an $18 million deal with Baltimore in 2023, he recorded 35 catches for 565 yards. Financial constraints forced his departure in March 2024.
His subsequent Dolphins stint proved less successful. After starting on the physically unable-to-perform list following knee surgery, OBJ managed just nine catches for 55 yards across nine games. He played behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle before being waived.
Baltimore Ravens's current receiver struggles might open a door for a reunion. Diontae Johnson's Week 15 suspension highlighted their depth issues. Johnson has caught just one pass in four appearances since joining the team.
Odell Beckham Jr's NFL resume remains impressive - 575 receptions, 7,987 yards, and 59 touchdowns across 119 games. His last three team stints with the Rams, Ravens, and Dolphins lasted one season or less. The three-time Pro Bowler cleared waivers last week with roughly $200,000 remaining on his one-year, $3 million Dolphins contract.
Multiple playoff contenders could use Odell Beckham Jr.'s services. The Rams, where he contributed to their Super Bowl LVI title, maintain strong receiver depth with Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp. The Steelers, leading the AFC North race, need receiving help with George Pickens battling hamstring issues.
