Another primetime game, another opportunity for Lamar Jackson to show the world that the MVP race is not done and dusted just yet. The Baltimore Ravens took on the Houston Texans on Christmas Day and with Beyonce in attendance, Jackson put on a show and a half to remind the rest of the league why he was named the league's unanimous MVP in 2019.

Jackson finished the game throwing for 168 yards and two scores through the air while rushing for another 87 yards and a TD on the groud. Jackson putting the Texans down during the holidays caught former teammate Odell Beckham Jr.'s attention. The free agent WR tweeted:

"Words don't do justice for seeing what Lamar Jackson does in person."

Jackson's bid for a second consecutive MVP also got the backing of Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe. During an episode of the Nightcap Show last week, Sharpe made it clear that Jackson would get his vote for MVP.

"MVP is not over. It is not over," Sharpe said.
“I’m basing my vote on play that year. Y’all got to look at Lamar’s stats. The man has 37 TDs, 4 picks. Then you throw in his rushing totals, he’s at 40 TDs with six or seven turnovers. You look at his passing numbers, that’s what Aaron Rodgers was doing when he was winning MVP. Right now, if I had a vote, I’m probably voting for Lamar.”

What the MVP race looks like in Week 17

Despite Jackson's exploits against the Houston Texans, Josh Allen remains the betting favorite to win his first MVP. DraftKings Sportsbook's odds have Allen listed at -240.

Allen is followed by Jackson, Saquon Barkley (who could yet break the single-season NFL rushing record), Jared Goff, Patrick Mahomes and Sam Darnold.

Interestingly, Joe Burrow is nowhere close to the MVP conversation despite having a highly productive year with the Cincinnati Bengals. Through Week 16, Burrow has thrown for 4,229 yards and 39 touchdowns. Jackson, meanwhile, has thrown for 3,995 yards and the same number of TDs, though his rushing yards total stands at 852.
