"April fools was yesterday no?" - Odell Beckham Jr. shuts down reports of alleged asking price

Odell Beckham Jr. has come out swinging at reports that he is still unsigned because of his reportedly high asking price. It was reported that he was asking in the range of $15-20 million. The New York Jets have reportedly expressed an interest and that is yet to materialize. With Aaron Rodgers expected to join the franchise soon, getting top wide receivers is imperative for them.

OBJ has now slammed reports that it is because of his salary demands. He said that it seemed like an April Fool's prank to suggest that his wage requirements are too high. He posted on Twitter:

Since winning the Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams, Odell Beckham Jr. has not been seen on the football field. He injured himself during that game and could not be ready in time for the start of last season.

Even when he got fit, teams refused to sign him and he sat out the entire season. Given his performances for the Rams, especially during the playoffs, it would have made sense for a team to pick him. The fact that they did not has led to persistent rumors about his asking price.

He was also involved in an off-field controversy when he had to be removed from a plane after his behavior did not meet expectations. Now, with new reports, it seems even harder than ever to see him back in the NFL in the short term.

For Odell Beckham Jr., that is bad news, because the longer he stays off the field, the more his value diminishes. He may have been the best receiver in the Rams' Lombardi Trophy-winning team behind Cooper Kupp, but he is now a year removed from professional action. This means that not only have coaches not seen him play, but they also do not know where he stands after the injury.

One thing that may work in his favor is that multiple teams were reported last year to be interested in his signature, including the Dallas Cowboys and the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are divisional rivals to the Jets and that may spark a bidding war for his services, especially as neither team would want a premium receiver to join a team they have to play twice every year.

It points to an intriguing saga. However, with his latest statement, OBJ seems to be taking every chance to ensure that his attitude towards returning to the game is not being questioned due to exorbitant demands.
