The information was put out during the broadcast of the Formula 1 Mexico Grand Prix on Sunday. ABC affiliate WNEP-TV accidentally aired some statistics indicating that VP Kamala Harris was winning the election with 52% votes in the state of Pennsylvania.

In comparison, her Republican counterpart Donald Trump received 47% of votes. This was a few days before election day was set to begin in Pennsylvania (November 5), sparking doubts among many.

ABC clarifies situation amid Devon Mostert & public concern

WNEP-TV has since clarified the situation, calling it a blunder. They later apologized for their mistake and then explained that the numbers were randomly generated for testing purposes and not based on actual votes.

ABC gave a statement to Daily Mail:

“Those numbers should not have appeared on the screen, and it was an error by WNEP that they did. The numbers seen on the screen were randomly generated test results sent out to help news organizations make sure their equipment is working properly in advance of election night.
“The numbers were not reflective of any actual vote count. Pennsylvania law does not allow mail-in ballots to be taken out of their envelopes until 7am on election day, and no votes of any kind will be counted in Pennsylvania until after the polls close at 8pm.
“WNEP regrets the error and apologises for any confusion. We have taken steps to ensure that it does not happen again.”

The error from ABC News certainly raised a lot of eyebrows, especially with the recent allegations from presidential candidate Donald Trump. On Truth Social, Trump alleged that Lancaster County, Pennsylvania had been "caught with 2600 Fake Ballots and Forms, all written by the same person."

Lancaster County has launched an investigation into voter registration applications, rather than votes, focused on around 2,500 forms.
