“Overrated," "George Kittle's idol" - NFL fans split over Travis Kelce making Madden history

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had a phenomenal last year, both on and off the field. Pop icon Taylor Swift's partner has won the Super Bowl back-to-back and capped off his last season with a 99 rating in EA’s Madden 25. However, the football fans are not in unison with this rating.

Not only did Kelce join the prestigious 99 Club, but he has also done so for the fifth time. Kelce became the first TE in the game's history since 1989 (first release) to achieve this honor.

Kelce achieved this feat for the fifth consecutive time, and while many of his fans are ecstatic, some called his rating flawed.

“Overrated. He’s getting old,” a fan tweeted on X.

“George Kittle’s idol,” another fan tweeted.

The nine-time Super Bowl winner received support from his fans for this record-breaking achievement.

“Because he is THE BEST TE of all time!” a fan tweeted.

“99 Club for the fifth time… What can I say, the best TE ever. And no, I don’t care what you think,” another fan tweeted.

However, several fans disagreed with this notion of the 36-year-old being at his best last season.

“Last year, he was on the decline. He should've not gotten a 99,” one fan tweeted.

“Not first in yards or touchdowns but a 99… got it,” another fan tweeted.

Travis Kelce isn’t the only one to join this illustrious list. The publishers have revealed some other names as well. Till now, three more players have joined the TE.

The game is set to release on Aug. 16, and the publishers will keep unveiling players' ratings. Several other players are expected to join the 99 Club in the future.
